Speedway Fire Rescue (SFR) will be holding their annual 2-day Motorsports Fire Rescue Conference on Saturday, March 15 and Sunday, March 16, 2008.
The 1st day of the Conference will be classroom instruction at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds - 4-H Keppy Building, Davenport, Iowa.
The 2nd day of the Conference will be inside for a short time and the remaining of the day will be hands-on training outside on the West side of the back pit area.
The purpose of this two-day course is to provide training and awareness at motor sports events. Classroom discussion will be geared towards , Head Injuries with Drivers;
Powerhawk How-Tos with some hands on changing out the cutting heads; Fire Extinguisher Know How;, Hans Device How-Tos; Flagging/Officiating/Promoting;
Haz Mat in the Racing Industry; Race Car Incidents; Emergency Vehicle Operations and Risk Management.
The Conference is designed to promote safety while identifying, focusing and practicing effective rescue techniques for motor sports events.
Outside instruction will consist of the following: Racecar orientation of different types, designs and safety; Helicopter and Ambulance Awareness;
Specialized Extrication Tools; Fire Extinguishers; Rollover, Extrication and Car Fire scenarios including Mass Casualty scenario;
PROPER PROTECTIVE GEAR (PPG) IS REQUIRED INCLUDING: BUNKER GEAR, HELMETS, GOGGLES AND GLOVES.
These classes will run from 7:45 - 5:00 p.m. each day
Sign-In/Registration the first day is 7:15 - 7:45 a.m. with Sergeant Karri Coyne, Training Coordinator with opening remarks by Matt Carlson, Training Officer promptly at 7:45 a.m.
Sign-In/Registration the second day is 7:15 – 7:45 a.m. with Sergeant Karri Coyne, Training Coordinator with instruction beginning promptly at 7:45 a.m.
POTLUCK LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED BOTH DAYS BY SFR MEMBERS
The Fee is $10.00 and will need to be paid prior to the conference or when you register at the door. If you must cancel within 48 hours of the Conference, your fee is non-refundable.
